You can open one or all your shades, with just a simple button press.
Revolutionize the way your interiors feel and function. With our Automate window coverings, effortlessly control light and privacy, blending convenience with elegance.

Motorized shades are useful when the light you enjoy in the morning becomes distracting later in the day. A west-facing living room may need afternoon glare control, while a home office may need a setting that keeps a monitor comfortable to view. Large or hard-to-reach windows can also benefit from a simple wall control instead of a daily trip around the house.
The fabric matters as much as the motor. A solar-screen weave can filter daylight and preserve some outward view. A privacy fabric or blackout material serves a different purpose. Openness describes the spaces in a woven fabric; it does not by itself tell you whether a treatment meets your privacy needs after dark.
For Phoenix homes, consider orientation, exterior shading and existing glazing together with the interior treatment. The objective may be glare reduction, daylight management or improved comfort. Any effect on cooling energy depends on the full window and room conditions, not just whether a shade is motorized.
Transform your living space into a smart home, where convenience and efficiency are just a touch away.
Motorized shades are a fantastic addition to any home. You can open one or all your shades, with just a simple button press. Unexpected guests? Don’t spend time going around opening all the shades to show off that wonderful, natural light. Press a button or say “Alexa, Open all the shades”. We can customize motorized shades for any home. Add non-motorized window coverings (that match) in non-essential areas to assure your home is the envy of all your guests.
Start by deciding what you need to see when the shade is closed. A living room view, bedroom darkness and bathroom privacy call for different materials and sometimes layered treatments. Review samples in the actual room during the day and after dark; interior lighting can change what is visible from outside.
Blackout fabric blocks light through the material, but the complete installation determines how much light enters around it. Side gaps, mounting position and the top treatment all matter. Where a darker bedroom or theater is the goal, discuss edge-light management rather than assuming the fabric alone will create a dark room.
Power and service access deserve equal attention. Wired motors require a suitable power plan and cable route. Battery-powered options avoid some wiring but still need an accessible way to replace or recharge batteries. Window depth, handles, doors and trim should be checked before specifying a mount, especially when matching several adjacent shades.
Photographs and approximate window sizes are helpful for an initial discussion. Final measurements, mounting details and fabric selection should be settled before an order is placed, because custom window treatments are specific to their openings.
Prioritize glare control, daytime view, nighttime privacy or room darkening for each opening. A single fabric may not satisfy every goal. Where appropriate, a dual treatment can offer a daylight layer and a separate privacy layer. Matching non-motorized coverings may also be sensible in areas that need less frequent adjustment.
Choose individual window control, room groups and any whole-home scenes. A schedule can lower selected shades before direct afternoon sun reaches a workspace. A keypad still lets you change that setting immediately. Confirm supported positioning functions and test group alignment rather than assuming every motor behaves identically.
Window dimensions, fabric, motor type, power, mounting hardware and access all affect cost. A quote should distinguish the treatment from wiring and integration work, and identify how batteries or motors can be serviced. In new construction, coordinate power and recess details early with the builder and interior designer.

and sub-systems work together properly. Without a proper design, you may be subject to hidden charges later.

Terry Kohler, the owner of Audio Video by Design, has done AV work on both of my homes in the Phoenix area. He has done AV wiring, hung TV’s, installed speakers, added Control 4, and switches that allow me to control features in my home with my phone. His workmanship was professional and on time, and he did not go over budget unless I added work. I highly recommend him. You will be satisfied.
I called AV by Design to assist with a surround sound system. Terry was on time and very professional. He was knowledgeable and informative. In no time at all, I had a wonderful sound system that fit my style and budget. Thanks, Audio Video by Design. Great Job!
Terry has installed home automation throughout my entire house along with full surround sound speakers in my backyard. The customer service is excellent and so is the quality of the products he uses. I recommend him to anyone I talk to who wants any audio video in their home or business
We’ve used Terry for audio/video work for over 15 years. Now have Control 4 done by him too. Very happy.
We have surround sound outdoor speakers, and absolutely love Control4. Terry is great.
Never once was I concerned that Terry couldn't handle this job. He knew exactly what to do, and the results are immaculate...We have since had him back out to help with some other wiring projects and he is always friendly, prompt and efficient. I highly recommend this company for all of your AV needs. We will be hiring Audio Video by Design to come back out and install a complete home automation/control system for us. Thanks Terry!
Not necessarily. An open-weave screen that preserves a daytime view can allow visibility into an illuminated room after dark. Privacy depends on fabric, lighting and viewing conditions. Check samples from outside at night, and consider a more opaque fabric or an additional treatment where privacy is a priority.
Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, but light may still enter around the edges. Mounting, side channels and top details affect the finished result. Explain the darkness you need before specifying the treatment so the entire window opening can be addressed, rather than selecting material in isolation.
Neither is universally better. Battery options can suit a retrofit where wiring is difficult, provided the battery remains accessible. Wired power can be convenient for multiple shades or hard-to-reach openings, particularly during construction. Compare the selected motor’s maintenance requirements, available power and installation work before choosing.
They can when the shade motor, control platform and chosen voice service support the required integration. Confirm which functions are available, such as open, close and intermediate positions. Keep an accessible physical control as well, so everyday use does not depend entirely on a phone or voice assistant.
Appropriate window coverings can help manage solar heat gain, but savings vary with fabric, glazing, exposure and how the shades are used. Motorization makes consistent operation easier; it does not guarantee a particular reduction. Choose the treatment around comfort, glare and privacy first, with energy performance evaluated for the actual home.
A well-chosen shade feels natural in the room and has a practical way to operate it. Use these questions to compare fabrics and control options against your actual windows.
