Television integrated into a kitchen wall

Design your system around the way you live

A useful AV design starts with an ordinary day in your home. Where do you watch television? Which rooms need music? Who uses the controls, and what should happen when someone presses Watch TV? These answers determine the equipment and wiring far more effectively than starting with a shopping list.

In a shared living space, screen placement must work with seating, daylight and traffic through the room. A dedicated theater gives you more control over light and acoustics. Music in several rooms introduces a different question: should everyone hear the same source, or choose independently? Write these priorities down before selecting components.

For a Phoenix home, that conversation may also include a shaded patio, bright windows and equipment locations that stay within manufacturer temperature limits. An AV design connects these physical conditions with your preferred experience. It should explain how the display, sound, network and controls work together, including which features depend on compatible devices or online services.

AV Design and Installation

What We Do

AV Design and Installation

A fully integrated AV system requires an in-depth design procedure to assure that all of the components and sub-systems work together properly.  Without a proper design, you may be subject to hidden charges later. At Audio Video by Design, we pride ourselves on creating in-depth accurate designs for each project.  This will assure that the project is correct the first time and will provide the best possible user experience.  After the design, you still need a proper install.  Our highly experienced technicians will install your system according to the design and your needs, to perfection.  Our professionals will install the system the right way, the first time.  No need for multiple trips to “get it right”.  Assuring the installation is done timely, our techs will have you enjoying your new system in no time.

Make room for the infrastructure behind the experience

A tidy installation needs a practical place for amplifiers, sources, network equipment and their connections. Equipment cabinets need ventilation, access for service and enough space for the actual components. A tightly packed cabinet can make a simple cable replacement difficult, even when everything looks clean from the sofa.

In new construction or a remodel, discuss cable pathways while walls and ceilings are accessible. Existing homes need a different approach: inspect available routes, existing cable condition and the amount of finish work an installation may require. Reusing a cable is worthwhile when its condition and performance suit the proposed system.

Plan the network alongside the entertainment system. Streaming, app control and connected equipment share that foundation, while some devices benefit from wired connections. Leave accessible routes and useful capacity for likely additions, but understand that no prewire can guarantee compatibility with every future product. The strongest plan makes changes manageable and identifies the assumptions behind today’s design.

Bring these decisions to your AV consultation

Audio Video by Design brings more than 20 years of audio video experience to the conversation. A clear brief helps connect that experience with your home, budget and priorities.

Define the experience in each room

List the rooms, seating locations and activities you want to support. Include everyday details: dialogue that is hard to hear, a remote that confuses guests, music that stops at the patio door, or a display with distracting reflections. Separate essential improvements from features you would enjoy later. This gives the design a useful order of priorities.

Identify what stays and what changes

Bring equipment model numbers, photos of cabinets and wall connections, and any existing wiring plans. An older speaker or display may remain useful, but its connections and capabilities can constrain other choices. Discuss construction schedules and who is responsible for electrical, cabinetry and finish work so that those dependencies are visible in the project scope.

Decide how you want to use the system

Choose the controls that make sense for your household: familiar buttons, a handheld remote, keypads, touchscreens or an app. Discuss access for family members and guests, online service accounts and what remains usable during an Internet interruption. Ask for a demonstration of the everyday activities you expect to perform before considering a more elaborate scene or integration.

AV design and installation questions

Can an AV system be installed in an existing home?

Often, yes. The approach depends on access through walls, ceilings or other available pathways, the existing wiring and the finish you want. Some connections can be reused; others need replacement. An inspection helps determine whether concealed routes, surface pathways or a smaller first phase best fit your home and the amount of disruption you are comfortable with.

Should I buy equipment before the design is finished?

It is usually better to establish the room layout and system requirements first. A display may fit the wall but place its connections behind a mount; an amplifier may not fit the cabinet or support the planned speaker load. Share any products you already own or want to consider so that compatibility and installation requirements can be reviewed together.

What has the biggest effect on installation cost?

Room count, equipment selection, cable access, construction conditions and the complexity of controls all affect scope. Concealing connections in a finished room takes different work than prewiring an open wall. Compare proposals by their included equipment, labor, programming and construction responsibilities, and ask which assumptions could change after the site is inspected.

Can I build the system in stages?

A phased project can work well when the overall direction is planned early. Start with the rooms and functions you use most, then reserve sensible pathways and equipment capacity for likely additions. Some infrastructure is easier to install during construction, while sources or additional zones can be added later. Each phase should provide a useful, complete experience on its own.

What should I understand at the end of installation?

You should understand the controls, source selection, volume or room settings, and any accounts needed for the agreed features. Ask how to obtain support, which credentials belong to you and what information to keep with the system. Confirm the everyday functions you requested, and discuss any remaining limitations caused by equipment, services or the room itself.

Bring your room priorities, existing equipment list and plans for future additions. A clear brief helps us discuss the scope before products are selected.
