Wall-mounted television above a media cabinet

A comfortable view starts with the room

The best television position depends on where you actually sit. A screen that looks balanced above a cabinet may feel too high from a low sofa. Before deciding on the mount, consider seated eye level, screen size, viewing distance and the seats used most often. There is no single height that suits every room.

Daylight matters just as much. Check reflections from windows and light fixtures at the times you normally watch. Moving the screen, adjusting lighting or adding appropriate window coverings can be more useful than choosing a larger display. In a Phoenix living room, afternoon sunlight may create a very different viewing experience from evening use.

A fixed mount keeps the screen close to the wall. A tilting or articulating mount provides adjustment, but needs suitable clearance, attachment and cable movement. Think through the full range of motion, nearby furniture and access to connections. Those details turn wall mounting into an installation that is comfortable to watch and practical to live with.

What We Do

Experienced TV Installation

Tired of seeing the wires hanging under the TV?  Done with that media cabinet that has been collecting dust for years?  Let Audio Video by Design install your TV’s for you.  Our highly qualified technicians will install the appropriate electrical outlets, run any needed wires, and properly hang your TV’s, in a snap.

Plan the connections before the screen goes up

Concealed wires need an accessible route to the equipment they serve. Decide where the streaming player, cable box or game console will live, how it will be controlled, and whether you need to reach it to change a disc or connection. A cabinet across the room introduces different cable requirements from a small source mounted behind the television.

Power and signal connections need appropriate installation solutions. Wall construction, existing outlets and the location of electrical work should be reviewed before agreeing on a concealed finish. A loose extension cord tucked out of sight does not resolve the installation requirements. Connections should also remain serviceable after the display is mounted.

For a soundbar or AV receiver, confirm the television’s audio connections and supported formats. HDMI ARC and eARC can return TV audio to compatible equipment, but features depend on the actual devices, connections and settings. Gaming adds refresh-rate and other format requirements. The entire signal path, including any long cable run, needs to support what you expect to watch and play.

What to review before mounting your TV

Audio Video by Design combines more than 20 years of audio video experience with a customer-first approach. Share your room and equipment details to start planning the right installation.

Match the mount to the display and wall

Provide the TV model, weight and mounting pattern, along with photos of the intended wall. Mount compatibility also depends on wall construction and the manufacturer's attachment instructions. The extension of a movable mount changes the demands on its attachment. Existing brackets should be evaluated before reuse rather than assumed suitable because another television once hung there.

Include the sound and source equipment

Tell us whether you use TV speakers, a soundbar or a receiver, and which sources need connections. Plan space around the screen for the sound equipment and check that a moving bracket will not strain its cables. A single familiar remote or integrated control may simplify daily use, depending on the devices and available control interfaces.

Clarify the finish and future access

Discuss whether you want concealed routes, a surface cable cover or equipment hidden in cabinetry. Access conditions, wall finish and outlet work affect both appearance and cost. Leave a practical way to service connections and replace a source. If the installation is part of a remodel, coordinate the display position and cable route before the final wall treatment is completed.

TV installation questions

How high should a wall-mounted television be?

Begin with the seated viewing position and the size of the screen. The goal is a comfortable line of sight for the main seats without prolonged upward viewing. Furniture, room use and multiple viewing positions may require a compromise. A proposed position can be marked on the wall before installation so you can judge it from the seats you use.

Can a TV be installed above a fireplace?

It depends on the fireplace, heat exposure, wall structure, clearances and television manufacturer's requirements. Viewing height also deserves attention. Some locations are unsuitable even when a bracket physically fits. Share photos and model details for an assessment, and be open to another wall or mounting approach if it produces a safer, more comfortable setup.

Can all of the wires be hidden?

Often there are good options, but the result depends on available pathways, wall construction, source location and power arrangements. Some rooms permit concealed cabling; others need a surface route or limited finish work. Discuss those choices before installation and include all connected equipment. Power cabling needs a suitable solution as well as a neat appearance.

Do I need a new HDMI cable for a new television?

The required cable performance depends on the sources, resolution, refresh rate and audio features you intend to use. An existing cable may be adequate for some formats and insufficient for others, particularly across longer runs. Review the complete connection path rather than replacing a cable solely because the television is newer or has a larger screen.

What affects the price of a TV installation?

Display size and weight, mount type, wall construction, cable length, outlet requirements and connected sound equipment all affect the work. Concealing a route in a finished wall adds different tasks from using an existing suitable pathway. Photos, equipment models and a description of the desired finish help establish a more useful scope than screen size alone.

Tell us which television you have, where you want to watch and what connects to it. Photos of the wall and seating area are a useful starting point.
